Welcome to the Town of Deerfield website!
Important Notice
This is a preliminary version of the website for the Town of Deerfield. At the 2008 Annual Town Meeting, the Town authorized funding for a complete and professionally developed town website. In the meantime, town notices such as the announcement and Warrant of Special Town Meetings and the Annual Town Meeting are being posted here, along with other special events and items of interest. Please check back to see what's new!
Solicitation for Purchase and Development of the Oxford SiteThe Town of Deerfield is seeking interest from qualified real estate developers in purchasing and developing the 16.7 acre former Oxford Foods site (the Oxford Site) in South Deerfield. Three documents are available here in PDF form: the formal solicitation of interest, the final report on the site planning analysis, and an appendix containing the market analysis. (The last two of these are quite large.) Click on any of them for the text of the document. Continuation of 2009 Annual Town MeetingAt the 2009 Annual Town Meeting, consideration of the financial articles on the Warrant was postponed until late June, awaiting further decisions by the Commonwealth. A meeting to consider those articles will take place on Monday, June 22 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of the Frontier Regional High School. Click here to see the Warrant. 2008 Annual ReportThe 2008 Annual Report for the Town of Deerfield is now available. Click here to see it as a PDF file. Applications for Community Preservation FundsThe Community Preservation Committee is inviting applications for Community Preservation Funds. The CPA authorizes a surcharge on property tax bills with certain exemptions to raise money for preservation projects. The State has provided a 100% match on funds raised through the surcharge, bringing total Community Preservation Funds for Fiscal Year 2010 to approximately $300,000. These funds must be segregated from the municipal operating budget and used for preservation purposes which are specified by State Law. For a copy of the application form as a PDF, click here. Telephone Number for Town OfficesAs a result of upgrading the telephone system at the Municipal Offices, all town officials at that location can now be reached by calling the main number, (413) 665-1400. Recycling Fluorescent BulbsBoxes are now available in the lobby of the Municipal Building, 8 Conway Street, for recycling fluorescent bulbs (and keeping them out of the general waste stream). Both straight bulbs and compact bulbs are accepted. We encourage you to drop off your fluorescent bulbs here. Town of Deerfield General Code OnlineThe General Code of the Town of Deerfield, also known as the Town Bylaws, is available online. Click here to view it. Assessors' Database Available OnlineThe assessors' database, containing information about all properties in Deerfield including value, acreage, sale history, etc., is available through Patriot Properties, Inc. Click here to access it. Note that when you search on a street name, you should specify just the name, e.g., “River” rather than “River Road”.
